Brothers,
As you are aware, the Sigma Chi Advisory Board, Alumni Chapter, Chapter Advisor and Active Chapter have been working very hard the past two years in effort to re-launch the Sigma Chi Fraternity at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. On April 5th we assembled a team of 10 delegates from the Advisory Board, Alumni Chapter, Active Chapter and Nationals to present a formal petition for reinstatement to the University and IFC. The content of our petition outlined the steps that we have taken since our dismissal and our new policies and procedures going forward. After several weeks of review, the University of Nebraska has agreed to grant the petition of early reinstatement pending final approval by IFC. The IFC Executive Committee has already approved the reinstatement pending a formal IFC meeting with Alpha Epsilon. As anticipated, the reinstatement includes certain terms and conditions from the university that include the complete renovation of the chapter house at 1510 Vine, hire a graduate assistant to reside at the chapter house, participate in a summer 2011 training workshop and be on Conduct Probation for the duration of the original suspension through May 2013. The Alumni Chapter, Chapter Advisor, Advisory Boards and Active Chapter need to be commended for their tremendous effort in keeping our Sigma Chi legacy alive. Rush will begin as soon as the formal meeting with IFC is finalized.
As Alpha Epsilon Alumni, we have to continue to show our support by participating in rush, being a mentor, attending events and make regular donations to the alumni chapter. If you haven’t made your donation to the alumni chapter, you can contact me and I will assist in that endeavor. If you know of any quality young men who are coming to UNL next year, please refer them to me, Trey Pittenger or our Rush Chairman. Your effort will make a difference in the lives of young men and your legacy as an Alpha Epsilon Sigma Chi.
In Hoc,
Kevin S. Dasher
